On Tuesday 24th November, The Running Charity team was brought together for an inspiring training day around leadership and our strategic priorities. Our trainers, Florence, Maria and Hamid, put the organisation’s largely voluntary team through its paces, helping to develop clear priorities for the benefit of the members we work with.
2016 Virgin Money London Marathon ballot open!
Were you one of the thousands running the 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon, or one of the millions spectating along the course or watching the live coverage? We were there in force supporting friends, loved ones and a group of our incredible fundraisers. The day was truly a festival of running and we can’t wait until next years.
Ex-homeless Claude faces his biggest challenge yet
Three years ago, Claude Umuhire was homeless. Demoralised and seemingly without hope, he spent his nights sleeping on buses and park benches.
Claude came to the UK as a child to live with his mum. While just an infant, he lost his father and two siblings during the Rwandan genocide, whereby 800,000 people are estimated to have been murdered.
The Big Issue meets The Running Charity
We were pleased to welcome The Big Issue down to one of our training sessions in March. On a sunny Saturday morning at Highbury Fields, a group of keen members and graduates were put through their paces by our London Coordinator Claude.
The Running Charity at the 2015 London Marathon
On 26th April 2015 runners from across the country and beyond will be taking on the Virgin Money London Marathon. We are very lucky to have an incredible group of London Marathon runners raising money for The Running Charity. A big hats off to Adey Lobb of the Big Issue, Daniel Everall, Lucy Fraser-Macnamara and our very own Claude Umuhire leading the team for 2015.
Introducing The Running Charity
At The Running Charity we believe that sport and fitness should be a fundamental part of everyone’s day; we know first hand the power it has to dramatically improve both your physical and mental wellbeing. Running in particular has a hidden beauty that is overlooked, it enables anyone at any ability to push through their limitations from day one to reaching a PB at a 10K or Marathon. Only you can put in the time and energy, and the best thing is, only you will benefit and reap 100% of the rewards.
