We were pleased to welcome The Big Issue down to one of our training sessions in March. On a sunny Saturday morning at Highbury Fields, a group of keen members and graduates were put through their paces by our London Coordinator Claude.
Interval training, with plenty of lunges and squats were the order of the day and reporter Adey Lobb did incredibly well to not only keep up but bond with the group and put together an article to highlight our most recent work.
At The Running Charity we pride ourselves on our long term supportive community that is built over time and these sessions have such a welcoming and family feel about them, past and present members bond over things that every young person should be bonding over – shared interests, healthy lifestyles and of course their recent hair styles.
All our members have their own backgrounds, outlooks and ambitions, we do not define them by their homelessness but as the incredible, unique and often hilarious individuals that they are and we at The Running Charity would like to thank Adey for capturing this in his brilliant piece about our work.
Since meeting our members, Adey has decided to dedicate his 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon to The Running Charity through his fundraising efforts. We wish him the best of luck.
If you would like to take a look at our feature in The Big Issue.
Happy Running.
